LNG — BURRUP HUB — JOBS
60. Hon TIM CLIFFORD to the Leader of the House
representing the Premier:
I refer to the state government's
vocal support for the highly polluting proposed Burrup hub project.
(1) Has the state
government done its own analysis or received any information on the FTE
positions the state expects to be created from this mega-project; and, if so,
where was this date sourced from? Please table that data.
(2) Of these, how many will remain
beyond the construction phase?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. The Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and
Innovation advises the following.
(1)–(2) The
Burrup hub involves a number of projects, including expanding the Pluto LNG
facility's capacity, extending the life of the North West Shelf LNG
facility and bringing in gas from new sources including the Scarborough and
Browse projects.
Employment creation
projections/estimates for these projects are typically provided by the
companies. Based on information currently available, the Scarborough and Browse
projects could generate about 5 000 construction jobs and 1 320 operational
jobs.
