We have not started
the budget process yet.
Mr B.S. Wyatt : What are you doing!
Mr C.J. BARNETT : There is so much good advice from members
opposite—so much advice! Do members opposite not realise that
collectively on 9 March they recorded the lowest Labor vote in 90 years? That
should tell members opposite something? That is your place in history, Leader
of the Opposition!
Several opposition
members interjected.
Mr C.J. BARNETT : It has been a long, long time—since
the First World War—since we have seen someone as bad as you!
Several members
interjected.
The SPEAKER : Member for Victoria Park, I call you to order for the first time.
Premier, can you please answer the question and come back to the point.
Mr C.J. BARNETT : The point, Mr Speaker, is that the budget
will come down on 8 August. I expect that will probably be a norm for
governments after a fixed election—others may choose differently—and
that in following years it will come down in May as per normal.
