(1) In relation to the Honourable Member’s previous Question on Notice (No 1176) concerning SO2 emissions from the Cockburn Cement Limited’s (CCL) Munster site, the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) advised me that it has now considered the case against its Enforcement and Prosecution Guidelines and does not intend to pursue legal action against CCL. (2) The DEP advised me that it determined that the most appropriate action would be setting new SO2 limits for the site which it is currently pursuing.
