NATURE POSITIVE PLAN — COMMONWEALTH REFORM
856. Mr R.S. LOVE to the Premier:
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry
of Western Australia has warned that any deal between Labor and the Greens on
the proposed nature positive reforms, including the establishment of a new
federal environmental protection agency, would cause great damage to Western Australia.
Does the Premier share these concerns; and, if
so, has he explained to the federal Labor government why it should not be
taking this potentially devastating path?

I thank the member for the question.
Of course the federal government knows full well our position on nature
positive and that it would have a detrimental impact on industry. I know that
the CCI understands that support, too. How do I know that? I sat in front of
the federal Minister for the Environment and Water with Chris Rodwell, the
chief executive officer of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, on one side
and Rebecca Tomkinson, the CEO of the Chamber of Minerals and Energy, on the
other side of me as we were speaking directly to the minister about these
matters. The federal government is fully versed in our position on this and we
continue to advocate on behalf of Western Australian industry.
