FAMILY
VIOLENCE PREVENTION LEGAL SERVICE
849. Hon STEPHEN DAWSON to the
Attorney General:
I refer to changes to commonwealth
funding guidelines for the Indigenous Advancement Strategy released on 8 August
2014.
(1) What services
does the Family Violence Prevention Legal Service—FVPLS—offer
and in which locations does it operate in Western Australia?
(2) How will the
recently announced funding changes affect those services in WA?
(3) What is the
dollar amount of funding to Western Australia that has been cut by the federal
government for these services?
(4) What
discussions has the state government undertaken with the commonwealth to
champion the continuation of these services?
(5) Will the
Attorney General ensure, in the absence of commonwealth funding, that an
immediate allocation of state funding will be allocated to keep the Family
Violence Prevention Legal Service programs open?

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the
question.
The FVPLS is a wholly commonwealth–funded program,
with funding provided through the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.
It is suggested that the member redirect his question to the relevant
commonwealth minister.
