(a) The Mercy Hospital 12 bed unit was specifically designed for psychogeriatric patients. Over the past four years, the Department of Health has completed a range of mental health facilities at Broome, Derby, Karratha and Kununurra. There are no plans for the development of psychogeriatric inpatient units in the North West of the State.
