POLICE —
REGIONAL ENFORCEMENT UNIT
975. Hon MARTIN ALDRIDGE to the minister representing the
Minister for Police:
I
refer to Legislative Council question without notice 956 and the minister's
refusal to answer aspects of the question , citing ''operational
sensitivities''.
(1) Is the
minister aware that data relating to resourcing of the regional enforcement
unit was available in response to Legislative Council question on notice 2759
answered on 17 March 2020 and question on notice 1592 answered on 9 October
2018?
(2) Has the
Commissioner of Police advised the Minister for Police that this information is
now ''operationally sensitive'' when it was not in 2018 or 2020?
(3) If yes to
(2), when was such advice provided and why is the information now operationally
sensitive?
(4) Can the
police minister confirm whether the regional enforcement unit is currently
resourced at full authorised strength; and, if not, how many vacancies exist by
FTE?

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question.
(1)–(4) The
Western Australia Police Force advises that a policy oversight occurred with
the releasing of the information previously. Due to operational sensitivities,
staffing and resourcing information below the district/divisional level is not
released.
