457 VISA HOLDERS — PUBLIC SCHOOLS CHARGE
1. 468. Mr M. McGOWAN to the
Treasurer:
I have a supplementary question. Was the Treasurer's
fiscal action plan predicated on $30 million per annum of revenue from this
source—unfortunately—and if he is not getting that $30 million
per annum, is his fiscal action plan now in tatters?

The fiscal action plan has a total impact across the forward
estimates of $6.8 billion. We must put into context one component of it that
would have a maximum impact of $120 million.
Mr M. McGowan : So
you are unravelling this.
Mr T.R. BUSWELL :
Not at all. That $6.8 billion is a massive commitment to reform the finances of
this state.
Mr M. McGowan : It
is a joke.
Mr
T.R. BUSWELL : It is not, Leader of the Opposition. The interesting point
about budget management in this state is that every single one of the
opposition members has said that we are not spending enough in a range of
areas. Every single opposition member bleats about the lack of funding in a
range of areas. We had a prime example yesterday when the member for Collie–Preston
talked about primary school education in his electorate—something he is
familiar with as he spent a long time in that institution. Every single member
opposite bleats about spending.
Several members interjected.
The SPEAKER :
Order, members!
Mr T.R. BUSWELL :
Every single opposition member bleats about any measure that raises one extra
cent in this state. The Leader of the Opposition cannot have his cake and eat
it, too.
