Diesel reserves
139. Hon Rod Caddies to
the Leader of the House representing the Premier:
I refer to question
without notice 425 asked on 24 June 2025 in relation to WA diesel reserves.
(1) Has the WA Labor government done
anything at the state government level to improve WA's fuel security since 24
June 2025, when One Nation alerted the government to fuel security risks?
(2) Can the Premier confirm diesel supply
disruptions may occur if the conflict in the Middle East continues?
(3) Will the government adopt One
Nation's policy to restore WA's oil refining industry and secure safe and
reliable crude oil sources to achieve fuel self-sufficiency?

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the
question.
(1)–(2) I am advised there are no direct impacts
to fuel supply in Australia and that fuel continues to arrive in expected
volumes. The government is working with industry and stakeholders to implement
the actions agreed at the fuel security round table yesterday.
(3) Historic decisions to close
refineries in WA were disappointing commercial decisions. The government is
committed to delivering energy security for households and businesses, with our
recently launched Made in WA Energy Affordability Investment Program an example
of this. Becoming energy independent is a major goal of WA's energy transition.
