I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) The number is
54 as at the semester 1, 2016 student census. Semester 2, 2016 student census
data are still being finalised and will be available at the end of term 3.
(2) They are
located at Beacon Primary School, Bolgart Primary School, Carnarvon School of
the Air, Hyden Primary School, Kalannie Primary School, Kalgoorlie School of
the Air, Kimberley School of the Air, Leinster Community School, Marble Bar
Primary School, Meekatharra School of the Air, Menzies Community School,
Newdegate Primary School, Nullagine Primary School, Onslow Primary School, Port
Hedland School of the Air, Shark Bay School and South Stirling Primary School.
(3) The move
of year 7 students to secondary schools provides students with access to
specialist facilities and teachers with subject area expertise to support the
enhanced requirements of the Western Australian curriculum. To support the
transition of year 7 students in regional locations to secondary education,
year 7 students have the option to remain at their primary school in 2015, 2016
and 2017. This issue was recently raised during the regional cabinet meeting in
Moora.
