Perth Motorplex1154.Hon Dr Brian Walkerto theparliamentary
secretary representing the Minister for Transport:My question without
notice of which some has been given is to the Leader of the House representing
the Premier.I refer the Premier
to the upcoming race card for Saturday 6 December at Perth Motorplex, in his
electorate of Kwinana. I note that four races are scheduled for the day—the
Sprintcars WA Championship, with 34 cars entered; the Speedcars John Day Classic,
with 24; the Wingless Sprints, with 33; and the Late Models, with 21—giving
us 112 cars and drivers.(1) What consideration, if any, has the government
and the member for Kwinana given to the continued viability of the Perth
Motorplex if and when the Burswood racetrack is up and running?(2) Presuming a business case exists for the new
track alongside the existing one, will the Premier table said plan for the
consideration of the house?

The question has
been redirected to the Minister for Transport. I thank the honourable member
for some notice of the question. I provide the following answer on behalf of
the Minister for Transport.(1)–(2) Motorsport venues such as Wanneroo
and Kwinana will continue to host motorsport events, as they currently do. The
multi-use track at Perth Park is only proposed to host one motorsport street
circuit event annually.
