I refer to the election commitment that the Barnett Government will introduce new heritage laws. Given that widespread consultation has already taken place, I ask:
(a) when does the Minster anticipate that the Bill will be introduced into Parliament; and
(b) will the Bill contain provision for some kind of State intervention where demolition by neglect of heritage property is occurring?

The new Heritage Bill will be introduced to Parliament when the Government is satisfied that it will deliver open, transparent, simple to operate and easy to understand legislation that reflects best practice in the recognition and protection of heritage places. (b) A means to address genuine cases of demolition by neglect of State-registered places is being considered as part of the new Heritage Bill.
