I refer to media reports in The
West Australian on 22 August 2023 regarding a request for information by
the Department of Fire and Emergency Services into robotics and automation in
firefighting.
(1) How did DFES
consult with WA firefighters regarding the need for automation and robotics
prior to the request for information being published?
(2) When did the request for
information open and when did it close?
(3) How many submissions were
received as of the closing date of 25 August 2023?
(4) Will the minister please table
the request for information document?

the answer is current as of that date.
(1)–(4) A
request for information was published on 9 August 2023. The RFI represents an
initial phase within the Department of Fire and Emergency Services'
research and development process. The RFI closed on 25 August 2023. In
accordance with the WA Procurement Act 2020, it cannot be disclosed until the
RFI process has been finalised.
