CORONAVIRUS —
PLACES OF WORSHIP
850. Mrs
A.K. HAYDEN to the Premier:
I have a supplementary question.
When does the Premier expect to remove these restrictions from our places of
worship so that they can continue to help those people who are in need during
this COVID pandemic? Our places of worship have been the first port of call for
many people who are desperately seeking help.

Places
of worship—whichever sort of church they are—can still operate.
They are subject to the existing rules. Many of us have been to various church
events and church services. They can be held. Places of worship are able to do
that. Looking at the same relaxation measures that we have put in place for
cinemas and theatres is currently ongoing. As I explained to the member in my
earlier answer, there are far more churches or places of worship than there are
cinemas or theatres. Therefore, although we were on the cusp of announcing
something about this a couple of weeks ago,
we have had to reconsider because of the number of places that would need to
put in place COVID safety plans and the like or make different arrangements if they were to go from 50 per cent to
60 per cent capacity. This is something we are currently working through. I urge
the Liberal Party not to undermine everything we do all the time.
The SPEAKER : That is the end
of question time, Mr Punch.
