(a) Crowea forest block is known to contain quokka populations. Crowea 07 forest coupe, within Crowea forest block, is likely to contain suitable quokka habitat.
(b) - (b)(i) Timber harvesting and burning in Crowea 07 forest coupe are undertaken in accordance with the requirements of the
Forest Management Plan 2004-2013
(FMP) and the fire management guidelines to protect quokka populations.
The harvesting proposal was designed to maintain linkages and corridors between reserve areas throughout Crowea 07 forest coupe.
Fox baiting has been carried out in Crowea 07 forest coupe to reduce the risk of predation on quokkas.
(b)(ii) Not applicable.
(c) Timber harvesting is undertaken by the Forest Products Commission. Given the extensive planning required to comply with the FMP, I am satisfied that the harvest in Crowea 07 forest coupe and planned burning will be undertaken in accordance with the FMP and other relevant guidance documents.
