I refer to the practice of terminating pregnancies in Western Australia since 1998, and I ask: (a) what is the total number of cases of babies who showed signs of life after an abortion procedure; (b) how many abortions have been performed on girls under the age of 18; and (c) what is the total number of cases of babies who were aborted where the reason for the termination given was "Trisomy 21" or "Down Syndrome"?

a) as at 31 December 2024 39 cases of abortion procedures resulting in a live birth were reported.
b) 25,329 abortions were performed in the period between May 1998 and December 2024 for persons aged less than 20 years.
c) 1,149 abortions were performed between 1998 – 2024 with at least one reason being “Trisomy 21” or "Down Syndrome”.
