I refer to a media statement issued on 8 May 2014 by the
Minister for Regional Development, which committed $5.3 million to the creation
of marine parks in the south west.
(1) Have any marine parks been created in the south west in
2014–15?
(2) What new marine parks are planned for the south west in
2015–16?
(3) How much
of the committed $5.3 million has been spent on the creation of new marine
parks in the south west in 2014–15 and will the minister detail
expenditure to date?

marine parks are planned for the south west in 2015–16 as part of the
$5.3 million royalties for regions funding committed.
(3) The
Department of Parks and Wildlife has spent $889 000 on the management of Ngari
Capes National Park to the end of the 2013–14 financial year. DPAW
anticipates expenditure of $1.16 million in the 2014–15 financial year.
Budget estimates provided by DPAW show anticipated expenditure of $1 251 million
in 2015–16, $1 million in 2016–1 7, $1 million in 2017–18
and $750 000 in 2018–19. The Department of Fisheries has spent $1.463 million
on the management of Ngari Capes National Park up to the end of the 2013–14
financial year. Fisheries anticipates expenditure of $1.06 million in the 2014–15
financial year and a further $737 000 to be spent in 2015–16.
