1068. Hon SALLY TALBOT to the
Attorney General:
I refer to section 19(k) of the Commissioner for Children and
Young People Act 2006 that describes one of the Commissioner's
functions as follows —
on the Commissioner's own
initiative or at the request of the Minister or the Standing Committee, to
advise the Minister on any matter relating to the wellbeing of children and
young people;
(1) On how
many occasions in 2014 did the Attorney General meet with the commissioner or
acting commissioner, and on whose initiative was the meeting requested?
(2) On how many
occasions so far in 2015 has the Attorney General met with the acting
commissioner, and on whose initiative was the meeting requested?

(1) I met the
Commissioner for Children and Young People on three occasions in 2014, with two
of these meetings initiated by the commissioner.
(2) I have met
with the commissioner on one occasion so far in 2015, initiated by the
commissioner.
I add that my staff have also had regular contact with the
commissioner, and I have been briefed on those discussions.
