(1) No, the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is unaware of any waste being transported from Brookdale to Total Waste Management’s (TWM) facility in Kalgoorlie. Since TWM Kalgoorlie site was established in 2000, the Brookdale and Kalgoorlie sites have been in commercial competition for the business and treatment of bulk liquid wastes. Senior officers of the DEP briefed councillors of the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder on 17 February 2003 about the probable impact of the future closure of the Brookdale site on TWM Kalgoorlie.
