Minister for Commerce:
I refer to the ThinkSafe small business assistance program
for the 2013–14 financial year.
(1) What is the budget for this
program?
(2) What is the target number of
eligible small businesses completing the assistance program?
(3) How many applications by month
have been received?
(4) How many eligible small
businesses have completed the assistance program?
(5) When did the
department cease to accept new applications for this program due to the annual
budget being fully expended?

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the
question.
(1) The 2013–14
budget for the ThinkSafe small business assistance program is $500 000, of
which 50 per cent is contributed by WorkCover WA.
(2) The target
number of eligible small businesses for the 2013–14 financial year is
700.
(3) During the
2013–14 financial year, the number of new applications received by
month was as follows: July, 135; August, 98; September, 79; October, 100; and
November, 64.
(4) For the
2013–14 financial year, a total of 556 small businesses will receive
assistance, including both initial and follow-up consultations.
(5) WorkSafe ceased accepting new applications at 5.00 pm on
Wednesday, 13 November 2013.
