Water Corporation—Flat Rocks wind farm stage 2
189. Hon Dr Brad Pettitt to the Leader of the
House representing the Minister for Water:
In 2022, the Water
Corporation announced it had secured development rights for Flat Rocks Wind Farm
stage 2, yet in 2025, works onsite are yet to progress and the Water
Corporation's website now states that the project is still "in
planning". I refer to the proposed Flat Rocks Wind Farm stage 2 project.
(1) Why has Water Corporation's Flat Rocks wind farm
stage 2 not progressed to construction despite development rights being
approved in 2022?
(2) When is Flat Rocks wind farm stage 2 expected
to be operational and producing power for the South West Interconnected System?
(3) What other large-scale renewable energy
generation projects on the SWIS does the government expect to be completed
before 2030?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the
question.
(1) Water Corporation's Flat Rocks wind farm stage
2 has not progressed to construction due to landowner engagement, and environmental
and heritage approvals to secure a transmission line corridor.
(2) Timing for completion of Flat Rocks wind farm
will be determined once planning is finalised.
(3) This question should be directed to the Minister
for Energy and Decarbonisation.
