(2) It is acknowledged that the Bentley acute adolescent unit has design problems and requires significant improvements as it does not provide the most suitable environment for adolescent patients. (3) In the past 12 months, improvements have been made, including the relocation of the main entrance to improve the environment for people arriving at the unit and to reduce the risk of patients absconding. The development of the outside garden area to create a quiet area for patients is being carried out. A gazebo has been painted, new fencing has been erected and work on the flower beds and garden area is due to commence soon. Future plans include a proposed large open-plan area as well as an increase in the size of the kitchenette and an additional small lounge area.
