(1) - (2) Responsibility for the activity rests with Landgate, not the Department of Lands. Landgate continues to conduct research into the use of aerial and satellite imagery for detecting and monitoring firebreaks as part of the National Disaster Resilience Program Project 'Extending FireWatch'. This research was initiated in response to the findings outlined in the Keelty Report on Perth Hills Bushfire February 2011, and has not been made publicly available due to incompleteness. The results of this research to-date, while not conclusive, continue to show potential for firebreak monitoring. Findings from the research into firebreak monitoring under 'Extending FireWatch' project will be reported by 30 June 2014.
