Transperth—Bus route 532
87. Hon Dr Brad Pettitt to the parliamentary
secretary representing the Minister for Transport:
I refer to Transperth
bus route 532.
(1) How much has patronage on bus route 532
between Fremantle station and South Fremantle increased by, in each direction
respectively, since the cancellation of the Fremantle CAT bus?
(2) How does this compare with the patronage on
the Fremantle CAT bus?
(3) What has been the increased cost to the WA
government in the frequency of bus route 532 since the cancellation of the
Fremantle CAT bus?

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question. I provide the following
answer on behalf of the Minister for Transport.
(1)–(3) The Fremantle CAT bus was
terminated following the withdrawal of funding of the service by the City of
Fremantle. The state redirected its contribution to the service to the
improvement of route 532. This has resulted in an increase in patronage on the
route 532 bus service of approximately 203 boardings per weekday in Fremantle
and 139 boardings per weekday towards Fremantle.
