Hon. Norman Moore questions the Minister for Education and Training, Hon. Ljiljanna Ravlich, regarding the delay in tabling the Department of Education and Training's 2005-06 annual report, which was due by 28 September. The Minister attributes the delay to industrial action by school staff, hindering the Auditor General's audit.

DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION AND TRAINING - ANNUAL REPORT
I refer the minister to a statement on the Department of Education and Training’s web site, under the heading “Department of Education and Training Annual Reports”, that the department’s annual reports are tabled by 28 September each year. (1) Why has the Department of Education and Training’s 2005-06 annual report not been tabled? (2) Can the minister assure Parliament that the report will be tabled before the end of the parliamentary session; and, if not, why not? Hon LJILJANNA RAVLICH

I thank the member for some notice of this question. (1)-(2) Finalisation of the Department of Education and Training’s annual report has been delayed due to the industrial action undertaken by school staff. The Office of the Auditor General cannot complete its audit until school-based information is made available. It is expected that the Auditor General will provide an audit statement this month. Once I have received that statement, I will be able to table the report.
