I refer to the South West Development Commission’s hydro-electric power project in Pemberton, which includes the pipeline through Lefroy Brook, and ask - (1) How is it that a large water pipeline can be constructed down the middle of Lefroy Brook, a major tourist stream in the south west? (2) Was this proposal referred to the Environmental Protection Authority as it is now constructed? (3) Was Fisheries WA consulted about the implications of the project as constructed? (4) What has the project cost to date? (5) When will this eyesore be removed? Hon KEN TRAVERS

(1)-(5) I thank the President for giving Hon Dee Margetts the call and I thank the member for some notice of this question.  The Minister for State Development will seek a detailed report on the issues raised in this question.  As soon as that information is available, it will be made available to the member. Hon KIM CHANCE:  I ask that the business of the House be now resumed. President’s Ruling - Standing Order No 195 The PRESIDENT:  Members, as the previous debate was interrupted by the requirement to take questions without notice at five o’clock, normally at this stage I would ask whether leave is given for the continuation of the previous debate.  However, I indicate to members that my reading of Standing Order No 195, compared with Standing Order No 164, leads me to the conclusion that there is no discretion to seek leave.
