I refer to the recent tender awarded to Peak Form, to update the Department for Child Protection’s templates, and ask -
(1) What is the exact nature of the work being carried out by Peak Form?
(2) Why has it been necessary to contract this work out to the private sector?

(1) The Department currently uses 450 Word templates for letters, case information, administrative forms etc. Peak Form is undertaking a review of these templates with the intention of simplifying the form related processes in line with the Ford Review reform recommendations for streamlining work processes. Part of this work will involve converting templates into forms that are easy to complete electronically.
(2) The work requires high level technical skills with Microsoft Word and the design, programming and implementation of electronic forms. The Department operates in an outsourced environment for IT related skills and as such does not have internal staff with the prerequisite skills and knowledge to complete this work.
