I refer to the letter written to the Government by the Shire of Manjimup dated 23 February 2001, seeking information on the “Protecting old-growth forests” policy. In July this year, the Minister for the Environment and Heritage in July stated in reply to a number of questions that this falls under the portfolio of the Minister for Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Hon Kim Chance, MLC and has been referred to Mr Chance’s office for consideration. (1) Has the letter been referred to the Minister for Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries? (2) If so - (a) when; (b) has the minister replied; and, if so, when; and (c) will the minister table that reply? (3) In view of the seriousness of the questions asked and the relative simplicity of the answers requested of the Government, is the minister satisfied that he and the Government as a whole have performed satisfactorily, and particularly in a timely manner, in addressing the concerns of the shire? Hon KIM CHANCE
