I refer to road traffic accident statistics at locations fitted with single carriage slow point traffic calming devices in the Perth metropolitan area. Can the Minister please advise -
(1) In the financial years 2001-2002 and 2002-2003 and so far in 2003-2004, how many traffic accidents have been recording at these locations?
(2) Of these accidents in the financial years 2001-2002 and 2002-2003 and so far in 2003-2004, have any accidents been caused by head on collisions?
(3) Of these accidents in the financial years 2001-2002 and 2002-2003 and so far in 2003-2004, how many fatalities have been recorded?
(4) Will the Minister please table in Parliament the coroner’s recent report in relation to traffic calming devices?

MRWA advise that for this category there were 66 crashes in 2002 and 68 in 2003. No data is available for 2004 at this time. (2) MRWA advise that there were no head on crashes in 2002 and 2 head on crashes in 2003. (3) MRWA advise that for the years 2002 and 2003 there has only been one recorded fatality at a slow point which occurred in 2003. (4) I am pleased to table the Coroner’s report that relates to two specific cases involving motorcyclists crashing into roundabouts. MRWA advise that a roundabout is a control device for an intersection and as such is not considered a slow point.
