The question implies a perceived failure of the Minister for Police and Emergency Services to directly address issues with the police, instead delegating to another minister. The minister's response defends her involvement and acknowledges the shared responsibility.

I have a supplementary question. If the minister is a party to those negotiations, why has she abrogated her ministerial responsibility to the Minister for Consumer and Employment Protection rather than worked through the issues with the police herself? Mrs M.H. ROBERTS

AnswerView source ↗

I have been involved in negotiations with the police. I have had numerous meetings with the Commissioner of Police and other members of the Police Service on this matter. I take this matter very seriously. There is a role for the Minister for Police and the Minister for Consumer and Employment Protection.
