587. Hon AMBER-JADE SANDERSON to the
Minister for Commerce:
I refer to the plumbing issues and
unlicensed work at Elizabeth Quay and the relevant investigation by the
Building Commission.
(1) Has the investigation now been
completed?
(a) If yes, will the minister provide
the investigation report to Parliament?
(b) If no, when
does the minister expect the investigation to be completed, and will the report
be made public?
(2) Has any
further noncompliant plumbing work been discovered in the past month; and, if
so, what specifically?
(3) When does the
Building Commission expect all rectification works to be completed?

(a) Not applicable.
(b) The
investigation is to determine what enforcement action can be taken. A report
will be provided to the Plumbers Licensing Board to help decide on appropriate
action. It may also be used in any associated legal proceedings. Accordingly, such
reports are not made public, but any action taken as a result of such reports
will be.
(2) No further
noncompliant plumbing work has been found. Ongoing inspections will be required
as remedial work is carried out.
(3) The Building
Commission is working with the Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority to confirm
a time frame.
