In respect of the departments and agencies under the Minister’s control, I ask:
(a) how many Apple iPads have been purchased since January 2010;
(b) how many staff are supplied with home internet connections, either paid in full or subsidized;
(c) how many notebook computers have been recorded as lost, stolen or damaged in the year July 2009 until June 2010;
(d) how many mobile phones have been recorded as lost, stolen or damaged in the year July 2009 until June 2010;
(e) how many colour laser printers are currently installed in each department and/or office; and
(f) how many staff are provided with mobile internet access either via a mobile phone or wireless dongle?

Western Australia Police -
(a)Nil
(b) Staff are not provided with home internet connections, secure access is available to electronic mail via a secure authentication process, if required.
(c) Nil have been lost, 1 stolen and Nil damaged.
(d) 28 have been lost, 2 stolen and 55 damaged.
(e) There are 368 colour laser printers installed throughout WA Police.
(f) Senior Executive within WA Police are provided with Smartphone devices with secure access to the Internet (previously provided by Blackberry and transition to a replacement device). 42 devices of this type have been identified.
306 devices (NextG cards) are registered which allow access from police laptops to the internet via a secure gateway.  The devices are used primarily in support of operational requirements.
The Office of Road Safety -
(a-f) The Office of Road Safety is administratively supported as part of Main Roads WA and as such the response will be included in the MRWA response under the Minister for Transport.
