QUESTION ON NOTICE 299
I refer the minister to his answer to question on notice 299 about contractual arrangements between the Department of Health and the Fremantle Football Club. (1) Will the minister outline what relevance the questions on notice and questions without notice referred to in his answer, which relate to workers compensation, Ord River irrigation and buses, have to the Fremantle Football Club or the Department of Health? (2) Will the minister confirm that there is no connection between part (2) of the answer that he provided and the subject matter of question on notice 299? (3) Did the minister mislead the House or did he simply fail to read the answer that he provided? (4) Will the minister now answer question on notice 299 accurately? Mr KUCERA

I thank the member for the question, which was on notice. (1) There is no relevance. (2) Accordingly, there is no connection. (3) By way of explanation, the error occurred between Parliamentary Services and the Department of Health when numbering questions without notice of which some notice is given. These questions were then sent to the Department of Health during the term of the previous Government. Accordingly, the numbers that were finally recorded against the questions in Hansard were different from the numbers that were originally sent to the former minister. Therefore, there was an incorrect numbering of some questions without notice in the Legislative Council that had been asked of the former minister, and their recording in Hansard ended up with a different number. It is as simple as that. This has only just been pointed out to me. However, I am happy to answer the question. (4) The Department of Health does not have a contract with the Fremantle Football Club for the purpose of providing a corporate box. The Department of Health has a contract with the Fremantle Football Club for a youth mentor program. The Department of Health’s contract has been explained by the previous Minister for Health, and further details are available from question on notice 966; questions without notice 00502 - 568 in Hansard - and 00571 - 620 in Hansard - asked in 1999; and question on notice 1411 asked in 2000.
