I refer to the 'Public Transport Authority Passenger Satisfaction Monitor', published in June 2024, and I ask: (a) noting the 5% decline in the number of people reporting that they feel safe on board buses at night, between March 2023 and March 2024, has any cause for this decline been identified; and (b) noting the 7% increase in the number of people who feel unsafe at bus stations/interchanges at night, between March 2023 and March 2024, has any cause for this increase been identified?

(a)-(b) The Passenger Satisfaction Monitor (PSM) identified that safety concerns were driven by a perceived threat as opposed to an actual threat on board the service.
The 2023-24 PSM found bus users feel that security has improved over the past 12 months.
The PSM has consistently found passengers feel safer on-board services or at stations/interchanges compared to walking around Perth city at night.
The PTA continually works to improve security across its network, with new technologies like a security live-chat function now being trialled.
