Department of the Premier and Cabinet advises:
(1-5c) The Department of the Premier and Cabinet maintains a confidential process of assessing applications under s102 of the
Public Sector Management Act
1994
for officers to engage in activities unconnected with their functions including external employment for reward. Applications assessed for approval include casual employment in the hospitality, retail and service industries, working on state and federal elections, freelance writing and book publishing, and various other pursuits.
The assessments and approvals contain confidential information and create records maintained between the Director General and the officers concerned.
Should the member wish to seek specific information on any individual application, it would be more appropriately sought through a Freedom of Information request where consultation occurs with the officer concerned.
