Fuel supply—Security
101. Mr Lachlan Hunter to
the Premier:
I refer to fuel
wholesalers and petrol stations in regional Western Australia running out of
fuel and limiting deliveries, particularly to our farmers, and the Premier's
comments that there is no immediate threat to the fuel supply chain.
(1) Can the Premier confirm whether his government
is aware of these fuel supply issues?
(2) What advice has the Premier received about
fuel availability for the agricultural industry and regional Western Australia?
(3) Has the Premier invited the Leader of the
Opposition and the Leader of the Nationals to his fuel supply round table
tomorrow?
Several members
interjected.
The Speaker: Members! Thank you!

(1)–(3) As I just said, we understand that
there are concerns, insecurities and anxieties in the community today, and we
understand that people have responded to those anxieties by continuing to
purchase fuel because they are concerned about those supply chains. I think
that is fairly straightforward and it is something we have been talking about
for some days.
The Minister for Energy and
Decarbonisation has confirmed that every shipment of fuel that was contracted
and expected to arrive in Western Australia as part of those global supply
chains has arrived. We understand that there are no constraints in relation to
those fuel supply chains—

The Speaker: Member for Roe!
Mr Roger Cook: There are no constraints in relation to
those global supply chains at this point in time. That is why we believe that
there is good reason for Western Australians to have confidence in fuel
supplies at the moment. The Minister for Energy and Decarbonisation has
informed us that all reserves are still in place and we are continuing to
receive the contracted fuel imports that we expected. We know that there are
people who are experiencing some shortages in some areas. We understand that.

Mr Roger Cook: That is why we have called a round table
tomorrow to ensure that we continue to be informed about—

their businesses, their farms and transport and logistics companies, and can respond
appropriately.
