the parliamentary secretary representing the Attorney General:
I refer to my question
without notice asked on 16 August 2022 regarding the most recent statutory
review of the Coroners Act 1996 .
(1) Has the next review of the act commenced?
(2) When is this next review expected to be
completed?
(3) Is the Attorney General aware that the
practice of post-mortem examinations being provided to hospitals ceased in
December 2020?
(4) Is the Attorney General aware that his
predecessor stated he would bring legislative provisions addressing this issue
to Parliament?
(5) Will the Attorney General do so, and if so,
when?

(3) Yes.
(4) Yes.
(5) Work to draft a new coroners bill, which would
repeal and replace the Coroners Act 1996 ,
is ongoing. Timing of the introduction of bills is a matter for cabinet.
