I refer to the Attorney General Regulations Amendment (Gambling) Regulations 2025 , and I ask: (a) what was the catalyst for bringing about these amendments to the regulations; (b) who was consulted prior to these amendment regulations being finalised; (c) in reference to (b), did any person consulted raise any concerns; (d) if yes to (c), what were these concerns; (e) in reference to (d), have the finalised amendment regulations addressed these concerns; and (f) if no to (e), why not?

(a) The Regulations were drafted to support the implementation of the Gambling Legislation Amendment Act 2024 (WA), which commenced on 6 December 2024.
The Regulations prescribe the Betting Control Act 1954 (WA), Casino (Burswood Island) Agreement Act 1985 (WA), Casino Control Act 1984 (WA) and Gaming and Wagering Commission Act 1987 (WA) within the Criminal Procedure Regulations 2005 (WA). They also prescribe the Betting Control Act 1954 (WA) within the Fines, Penalties and Infringement Notices Enforcement Regulations 1994 (WA). The effect of this is so relevant gambling offences in those Acts may be dealt with by infringement notices and modified penalties.
(b) The Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries and the Sheriff’s Office within Court and Tribunal Services of the Department of Justice.
(c) No.
(d)-(f) Not applicable.
