The Minister for the Environment has provided the following response - The identification of an alternative suitable source of drinking water is not the function of the Water and Rivers Commission, although it has provided advice on a number of proposed alternatives in its drinking water source protection plan, which was released in September 2003. Consultants for LandCorp have developed a proposed drilling and investigation program of these alternative sources, with considerable input from the commission. If the member wants to know more about the alternative source, I suggest he direct his question to the Minister for Planning and Infrastructure.
