I refer to Dongara Health Centre's use of generators during unplanned power outages, and I ask: (a) What is the capacity of the generators currently installed; (b) Are the generators sufficient to meet the peak load of the hospital infrastructure; (c) During hot weather when the generator is required, is it possible to run all the air conditioning and cooling units in the centre: (i) Can
the Minister confirm that all the air conditioning and cooling units in the centre were operating uninterrupted during recent power outages in
the Midwest; and (d) What steps have been taken to rectify the
situation?

(a)        27 Kilovolt-Amps (kVA).
(b)       The generator currently only runs the essential power circuits. These circuits enable critical equipment to operate such as defibrillator, ECG machine and vital signs monitors, point of care testing and ICT equipment (telephony and computers).
(c)       No.
(i)        Not at the time. Patient safety and wellbeing is always prioritised in these instances.
(ii)        A new 155kVA generator is being installed as part of the current redevelopment and will have capacity to support all critical systems including air-conditioning.
