(a) The last asbestos audit was undertaken on 1 August 2006 by the WA Country Health Service (WACHS) Pilbara. LandCorp has advised that a Hazardous Materials Assessment was conducted in May 2011 as part of the future disposal of the site.
(b) WACHS is not responsible for the undertaking of environmental assessments following the transition to Hedland Health Campus in late 2010. However, advice provided by LandCorp is that qualified environmental consultants were engaged by LandCorp to define appropriate management procedures and to commence an air testing regime to ensure and demonstrate that Asbestos Containing Material has been contained within the site. Further, LandCorp has advised that the application of encapsulation material by a qualified asbestos contractor has been completed to further stabilise the site.
(c) Information regarding environmental assessments should be directed to LandCorp.
(d) LandCorp holds responsibility for decommissioning of the site. Queries regarding decommissioning and remediation of the site should be directed to LandCorp.
