POLICE — COURT SITTINGS
586. Dr A.D. BUTI to the Minister for Police:
I have a supplementary question. Is the reason it sits only
on Saturday morning due to security concerns; and, if this is the case, why is
the government so inept in managing Serco contracts?

To put it in plain English, when asking
for additional services from a contractor to provide security for courts,
amendments to a contract or a new contract need to be negotiated. We are in
that process. It is ongoing. When those negotiations are finalised —
Dr A.D. Buti : When
will it be sitting more than half a day?
The SPEAKER :
Member for Armadale!
Mrs L.M. HARVEY :
Mr Speaker, I would love to finish my sentence. When those negotiations are
complete, the Attorney General and I will make an announcement on when those
courts will sit every day of the week.
