COST OF LIVING —
MORTGAGE STRESS
139. Mrs A.K. HAYDEN to the Premier:
On behalf of the member for South
Perth, I acknowledge in the Speaker's gallery from the City of South
Perth, Mayor Sue Doherty, Deputy Mayor Glenn Cridland, and CEO Geoff Glass. If
I may, on behalf of the member for Dawesville, I also welcome the staff and
year 6 students from Mandurah Catholic College.
I refer to the figures from Legal
Aid WA's civil law director, Justin Stephenson, who has revealed that
the number of Western Australians who need legal help because of mortgage
stress, including the elderly, is set to double compared with last year's
figures. Will the Premier admit that his cost-of-living increases and
job-hurting policies are forcing people out of their homes?
