TAXI USER
SUBSIDY SCHEME — MY WAY TRIAL SITE PARTICIPANTS
792. Hon ALANNA CLOHESY to the
Minister for Disability Services:
(1) When did
the Disability Services Commission become aware that the Department of
Transport intended to discontinue the taxi users subsidy scheme?
(2) What
communication has the commission had with My Way participants about the changes
to TUSS?
(3) Will the minister table a copy of that communication?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the member for some notice of this question.
(1) The taxi
users subsidy scheme is not being discontinued. While some key services,
including TUSS, have been included in the National Disability Insurance Scheme
trials, there is no immediate change to the service. TUSS will continue to be
available to people in all of the NDIS trial sites. As TUSS users living within
the NDIS trial site areas transition into the scheme, their current TUSS
supports will be included in their individual plans.
(2) There have
been discussions between My Way participants and their My Way coordinators to
reassure people that their TUSS supports will continue. However, formal
communication with TUSS users about any changes to TUSS would come from the
Department of Transport as the administrators of TUSS. The commission sent a
broadcast email to the sector on 24 July 2015 to alleviate concerns and
reassure organisations and the people they support that TUSS will continue to
be available to them.
(3) A copy of the broadcast email referred to in (2) is
tabled.
