PERTH FREIGHT LINK — STAGE 2
740. Mr M. McGOWAN to the Premier:
I have a supplementary question. Was
the Premier advised by the former Minister for Transport that there would be an
additional $23 million liability before he decided to unilaterally change the
Perth Freight Link contract?

AnswerView source ↗

We have not unilaterally decided to
change anything. We are doing the project in its correct sequence. We are
paying great attention to the detail of the engineering contract. I repeat what
I said: we can find no evidence in any of the negotiations to this point that
talk about a $23 million —
Mr
M. McGowan : Did he advise you?
Mr
C.J. BARNETT : I cannot recall whether he mentioned it or not. The former
minister was certainly keen to see it all rolled into one contract. That is not
realistic, and it is not going to happen, but we intend to proceed with the
full project.
