Government contracts—Outlaw motorcycle gangs
1235. Hon Steve Martin to
the parliamentary secretary representing the Minister
for Transport:
I refer to the minister's
statements in the Legislative Assembly on 4 December on whether any contracts
had been awarded by Main Roads to companies associated with criminal
organisations.
(1) Did the minister request Main Roads to review
whether any contracts had been awarded to Kerbing West, Eastside Concrete or
Nitro Works Pty Ltd?
(2) If no to (1), why not?
(3) If yes to (1), did Main Roads identify any
work awarded as either a contract or a subcontract to Kerbing West, Eastside
Concrete or Nitro Works Pty Ltd?

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question and provide the following
answer on behalf of the Minister for Transport.
(1)–(3) Main Roads has previously engaged
Kerbing West. Eastside Concrete Contracting and Kerbing West were also engaged
prior to 2009. Kerbing West was also engaged by the Public Transport Authority
three times between 2011 and 2012.
