(1) Is the
Public Transport Authority currently considering the introduction of new
technology to manage paid parking in its car parks?
(2) Does this
include the possibility of introducing number plate scanning cameras at the
entrance and exits of car parks?
(3) What process is the PTA using to assess different
technologies?
(4) When does the PTA expect the new technology will
introduced?

The Public Transport Authority is in the early stages of assessing options for
enhancements to the paid parking arrangements at Transperth train station car parks. Different technologies will be assessed against a
range of criteria, including compatibility with the existing technology,
customer outcomes, enforcement processes and cost. This will then be presented
to government for consideration.
