I refer the Minister to new police graduates in the Western Australian Police Force, and ask: (a) how many new graduates were there in 2016, 2017 and 2018; (b) how many new graduates have there been to date in 2019; (c) what was the male/female breakdown of new graduates in 2016, 2017, 2018 and year to date; (d) what is the approximate cost of training a new police graduate; and (e) what is the approximate number of hours of training undertaken before an officer graduates?

The Western Australian Police Force advise:
(a) The following recruits have graduated for the periods requested:2017
2016 289
2017 176
2018 159
(b) As at 30 May 2019 there have been 93 new graduates. Additional recruit squads are scheduled for 2019 including recruits to replace the officers who participated in the VTSS.
(c) The male/female breakdown of new graduates is as follows:
2016        Female: 85      Male: 204
2017        Female: 64      Male: 112
2018        Female: 57      Male: 102
2019*      Female: 33      Male: 60
* To 30 May 2019.
(d) The approximate cost of training a new police graduate is $154,300
(e) The approximate number of hours of training undertaken before an officer graduates is 40 hours per week by 28 weeks recruit training.
