PERTH CHILDREN'S
HOSPITAL — ALIYAH YUGOVICH
827. Ms L. METTAM to the Minister for Health:
I have a supplementary question.
Will the minister commit to addressing this issue of bereavement support, given
the significant costs that the family have undertaken in this respect?

AnswerView source ↗

I have always maintained and
continue to maintain that parents should be heard and that health services need
to work proactively, empathetically and transparently with all our consumers
whenever there are adverse events. The cause
of Aliyah's death is yet to be determined, and indeed whether clinical
care was a contributor to that cause, and we need to allow that investigation to be undertaken. I would expect
that under the course of their engagement with the family that more is offered, and if that is not the case, I am more
than happy to take that up with the health service.
