The Minister for the Environment and Heritage has provided following response - (1) Clearing under one hectare; clearing where there is no change in land use; clearing of roadside vegetation; clearing that does not cause land degradation or have a significant environmental impact; and, clearing for mining exploration. (2) Yes. (3) The department has limited records but is aware of alleged areas at Calingiri, Capel, Chittering, Cockburn Sound, Gidgegannup, Lake Clifton, Moreseby Ranges, Mullewa, Oakford, Oldbury, Piesse Brook, and Wanneroo. (4) Yes, one site is believed to have included rare flora. (5) Areas under investigation as a breach of the Wildlife Conservation Act 1950. (6) Yes, there are cases of clearing that the department believes are unlawful under the transitional providing of the EP Amendment Bill 2002. (7) Clearing has taken place at Camballin, Capel, Jindong, Newdegate, Southern River, Wanneroo and York. (8) Not known.
